Camp Recount

On the 6th of March, we went camping. First, we went on a bus, it was a long and boring ride. I was the only one on the two seats, so I had no one to talk to and I was really bored.

 After about 45 mins we got to our location. We met our instructors (Jasper, Wai, Yuli, Austin, and Eddie), then we went to the beach and played a few games like Yoshi and Chaintag after that we went to look for rubbish.

Next, we had a challenge to make a firepit. My group got some Gorse and some thin sticks and then we started building the fire. Our fire was big so we were told to put sand on it to put it out... so we buried it. After the fire making we made Damper, Marnie and I had to mix it with our hands and when we came back from washing our hands there was no more Damper dough so Marnie and I couldn’t have one, we were gutted.

Some of the class went for a swim and after they had played a game of tug-of-war in the lagoon. I joined in the lagoon, we played a game of seaweed then we had to put sand on our faces but I didn’t do that but I threw a little bit of sand at someone but not at their face.

We went to do a hut building challenge and my team did something similar to a Tepe then we put some type of grass for protection and we put some grass for the carpet and then a log for a couch then we got our picture taken.

After that we played a game where there is a target and then we had to throw rocks at the target and finally after that, we walked down to camp, to me it felt like hours before we FINALLY got to camp.

But when we got there Marnie, Kayla and I had to sleep in a tent (which we were happy about : ) ) then we set up the tent but Kayla was first to get her spot in the tent.

 A few hours later we FINALLY can get dinner cooked! Sadly it was Spaghetti Bolognese (which I had had for dinner the other night). It wasn’t that bad, even though kids cooked it up for us.


 After that we went to go play a game of Night Line I didn't do it though because I get scared very easily but I did Spot Light,  Ella and I were the last ones to be found. Even though I was wearing my pink puffer jacket and they had torches pointing at us, Kayla and Marnie didn’t find us till the end.


We went back to camp and we had a little meeting about how we are going to bed and how to act and that we are going to be waking up at 6:30 in the morning, I thought it was a joke but it wasn’t.  After the meeting we went to bed, Marnie, Kayla and I shared a tent. I was at the bottom of the tent and I had barely any sleep at all because I kept on waking up at night. When we got woken up I was really tired but I bet lots of people were really tired too.


We were going to go for a run at 6:30 AM but we were really tired so we just ran around the campsite, then we did lots of exercise like running on the spot and jogging on the spot. Next, we did a game where we lined up and the person at the front ran down to the end of the line, did five starjumps then we slapped each other's hands. The person that did five starjumps stays at the back and the person at the front follows suit and then it goes on and on.

We went to the lagoon to play a game and have a little snack. Then we went back to the campsite and did the Ocean Olympics where there was a whole bunch of games like Egg Tossing and Hit the Barrel and a few other games. J-1 won a trophy and a whole bunch of Fruit Bursts. Finally, we packed up and went back to school and we just relaxed for the rest of the day.
